And the Confident Donkey said to the Timid Horse “Just Do it”!
As days past and as goals that seem to be impossible or to hard to complete are done magically through baby steps am I really starting to understand that the two greatest things hindering the individual. There is a great weight that is placed on every human being from accomplishing what he/she would love to accomplish and it is a mixture of Fear and laziness. Ah, does comfort let us live in a life free of worry, free of challenging our bodies and brain to opportunities that are essential in our growth as human beings.
Growth is a beautiful thing, and a necessary act for us as human beings. But with growth comes a price, it requires us to get off our asses and do something! Now the getting off your ass is just one part of the equation, your moxie is really tested when you put yourself out of comfort into situations that leave your body with anxiety, the anxieties of uncertainty, doubt. These feelings you must recognize as not faults in your character but all basic aspects of your brain playing off all the fears that have been placed in our heads as we grow out of childhood as are told.
No you cannot fly!
No you cannot build!
No you cannot dream!
Life has a funny way of killing the greatest thing that a human being is born with, the ability to dream–it then consequently puts walls around the possibilities we think we are capable of. So you have fear, a box equal in length and in height with all the possibilities that your seek outside its walls. But inside isn’t it so very comforting? Nothing can get in, nothing can harm you, and you don’t even have to do anything but sit back in your recliner and let this box keep you safe. But breaking these wall is understandably difficult and can cause anxieties hidden away to erupt in volcanic explosions that pour down your body causing you to run back to safety. Scary ain’t it?
Ah…..can you feel it? Even as I write this do I feel the anxieties of fear flowing through my veins. *Deep Breath*
Listen, Fear is a scary thing, but there is a trick, a easy trick, a trick that you can do to get over this hump, it wont be easy and it will take lots of time and it will be a ongoing process. But the trick can chip away at these wall revealing that behind those walls is not a orgy of misery and shame, but green hills and blue skies. Sure there are rainy days and its obvious we know people and things die, but that’s all a part of life. As the zen masters practice, the originators of a certain slogan used by a certain mega conglomerate corporation, “Just do it!”
You may look stupid, you may feel dumb, You may feel frightened, but do it and I promise you will feel better after it is done.
Now what would you say doing it is? Well, this is all up to you….what is your Beat? what is your shtick? what is it that you always dreamed of doing when you were a kid? Work towards this with all your cognitive ability. No one said its going to be easy, its going to take fucking work, but if you a human being and you were born on this very blue planet, you sure damn well can do it.
